First, from its June 2010 bottom, coffee prices embarked on a powerful rally to their highest level in 34 years. Then, from its May 2011 peak, prices turned down in the southern rout we see today. See exactly how EWI's Futures Junctures Service editor Jeffrey Kennedy has stayed one step ahead of coffee's biggest turns.

Since rallying to a near 4-month peak on September 1, coffee prices have endured a powerful selloff to an 8-month low. Seeing coffee's reversal before the market went from "high octane" to "weak blend" was NOT a benefit of fundamental analysis. EWI's Commodity Specialty Service on the other hand, was well ahead of the turn.

Month number eight has seen an ugly fate for the world's leading equity markets. So far, it's been the worst August for US stocks in 13 years. YET -- while the financial storm has ravaged stock values, several popular commodity markets have actually strengthened amidst the tumult. Over the last year, the Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index of 19 commodities has soared 20% versus the Dow Jones Industrial Average's paltry 5.5% gain over the same period.
