Since the start of May -- in just 3 weeks! -- crude oil prices have fallen 12% to land at their lowest level in 6 months. Great time to be an oil bear for sure, but now oil bears want to know whether their gravy train has reached its destination. Well, according to the mainstream experts, the answer to that question is a very confident Yes... and, an equally confident No. Today's story has the riveting details.

Today, EUR/USD, the exchange rate between the euro and U.S. dollar -- and also the world's most-traded forex market -- fell to near $1.27, a low not seen since January. Just two weeks ago, it stood almost 600 points (or pips, in forex lingo) higher. What if someone asked you back in April -- before this month's news from Europe -- where the euro would trade in May? For many forex traders, the answer would be...

For the past several months, volatility was absent as the market mainly traded sideways. Many participants were complacent. Some opined that the market was simply gathering its strength before the next leg up. We viewed the lackluster market action as...

Elliott wave trader Jeffrey Kennedy had individuals like you in mind when he said "I began my career as a small trader, so I know firsthand how hard it can be to get simple explanations of methods that consistently work. In more than 15 years as an analyst since my early trading days, I've learned many lessons, and I don't think that they should have to be learned the hard way." Countless people trade in precious and industrial metals markets. But very few of those people trade gold, silver, aluminum and copper with confidence. As a sector prone to double-digit intraday drops and advances retraced entirely only hours later, the fact is this: those who invest in metal markets are often about as relaxed as a bomb diffuser -- never knowing if cutting the green wire will lead to... Without discipline, trading in financial markets is like skydiving without a working parachute. Having one has always been the number one rule of every market success story, including EWI Senior Analyst Jeffrey Kennedy. For over 20 years, Jeffrey’s primary discipline has been Elliott wave analysis, combined with traditional technical methods. By now, Jeffrey knows the specific rules and guidelines of the Wave Principle like the back of his hand, all the while bringing his own, original trading lessons and indicators into being.

Elliott Wave International presents Part I of the interview with its Senior Currency Strategist, Jim Martens: Jim, our readers often tell us that they want to make money trading the markets. There are lots of options for would-be speculators out there. Your area is forex -- the market which has grown by leaps and bounds lately. Can you explain why I'd want to look at forex and not, say, the more "traditional" stock trading? Jim Martens: ...

Have you ever thought about this: When do you hear the most bullish opinions about a market – when it’s near a top, or near a bottom? You don’t have to be a market veteran to know the answer: Near a top. Or at least when prices are rising strongly. That brings to mind the recent picture in crude oil.

On Friday (April 13), U.S. jobless claims rose -- but the U.S. dollar didn't fall against the euro; it gained. On Monday (April 16), U.S. retail sales rose sharply -- but the USD didn't rally; it gave back to the EUR almost all of Friday's gains. Go figure. Of course...

At the start of April, few investors anticipated any trouble ahead. March ended strong, and the majority of financial pundits and investors we convinced that April would also not disappoint. That one-sided bullishness was one (of many) reason why on March 30, the April issue of our comprehensive Global Market Perspective issued these warnings to subscribers...

Here's a paradox for you. On Monday (April 2), unemployment in the 17 euro nations reached a record high of 10.8% -- highest ever since the euro was introduced in 1999. Reports say eurozone manufacturing activity had fallen to a 3-month low. The words "Eurozone recession" are being muttered. Meanwhile, the latest U.S. employment and manufacturing reports have been strong. You'd think the euro would be crushed -- but no. Why?

This week started badly for the euro. As forex markets opened in Asia late on Sunday (US time), and after the European traders joined in, the euro-dollar exchange rate fell to near $1.3200. The EUR was losing to the USD "on concerns over the health of the eurozone economy," reported news headlines. But Elliott wave patterns in EUR/USD charts disagreed...
